Engineering
Principal Thermal Mechanical Engineer, Compute Payloads
Seattle, WA or Portland, OR
We host compute payloads on our power-producing nodes. These payloads need protection and cooling to operate reliably for years in the open ocean. You will be the primary mechanical engineer for these payloads, defining the mechanical and thermal architecture, designing and testing the electronics chassis, and collaborating closely with customers both internal and external. You will need to be creative, analytical, hands-on, and customer-facing.
Senior Mechanical Engineer, Marine Systems
Portland, OR
As Senior Mechanical Engineer, Marine Systems, you will spearhead the design of mechanical systems that must withstand extreme loads and a harsh ocean environment.
You will be responsible for subsystems immersed in seawater from inception through deployment, including initial trade studies, preliminary and detailed design, lab testing, commissioning, and deployment in the field. We expect you to be especially strong in analysis and to gravitate toward first-principles, fundamental-physics approaches to problem-solving.

Senior Engineer, Marine Operations
Portland, OR
In this role, you will drive the development of essential operational infrastructure, including support equipment, vessels, facilities, and procedures. You will conduct trade studies to identify optimal system architectures, perform engineering analyses, and engage subject matter experts as needed. From the detailed design of bespoke mechanical equipment to the fabrication, testing, and commissioning of critical assets, you will ensure operational readiness at every stage. Additionally, you will provide direct support to offshore operations, contributing to procedure development, logistical planning, and field engineering.
This position requires a hands-on, solutions-oriented engineer with a deep understanding of marine operations and a passion for pushing the boundaries of ocean technology. If you thrive in a high-stakes, fast-paced environment and are eager to develop the next generation of offshore energy infrastructure, we want to hear from you.
Senior Technical Program Manager
Portland, OR
Our core technology is the Node, a device that produces energy in the ocean’s harshest conditions for years at a time without human maintenance or intervention. We’ve proven we can design and build these Nodes in small quantities, and we are now designing our first production line. As a Senior Technical Program Manager at Panthalassa, you will help coordinate the development and deployment of our cutting-edge ocean energy Nodes through the R&D and pilot phases. Working under the guidance of the Lead TPM, you’ll manage schedules, facilitate cross-functional alignment, and support pilot manufacturing activities—playing a key role in scaling our hardware programs from prototype to production.
Candidates should have strong interpersonal skills and be able to thrive in a creative, scrappy, and collaborative environment in which the best ideas change the company’s direction on a regular basis.
Senior Naval Architect
Portland, OR or Remote
As a Senior Naval Architect, you will be responsible for the seaworthiness of our ocean-deployed systems from concept through to deployment and recovery. Your work will ensure these systems remain stable, reliable, and high-performing in the ocean’s harshest conditions. You will ensure the systems we deploy in the ocean are engineered through the lens of naval architecture which will include initial trades, seakeeping and stability analyses, interfacing with external parties such as the Coast Guard, developing sea trial testing plans, and occasionally supporting deployments in the field. Your work will enable safe, reliable, and simple marine operations and system performance. We expect you to be especially strong in analysis and to gravitate toward first-principles, fundamental-physics approaches to problem-solving.
Business Operations
Controller
Portland, OR
As Controller, you will be responsible for leading financial operations during a critical growth phase as we transition into mass production and commercial deployments. Your primary focus will be perfecting the perfectable, including cashflow forecasting and runway management, budgeting systems, and financial reporting. You will ensure the integrity of our financial statements, maintain compliance with accounting standards, and implement controls appropriate for our stage.
